The objective of this study is to analyze and, consequently, understand the process of urban socio-spatial segregation in Rondonópolis, MT. At the same time, it discusses the urban economic development of the place and the consequent acceleration of certain mechanisms in the space, which interact, causing different forms of urban land valuation and commercialization resulting from the advance of agricultural modernization and the verticalization of production through agribusiness. Like most medium-sized cities, Rondonópolis is characterized by rapid urban growth in terms of space and population, giving rise to numerous social and spatial contradictions. The contradictions that arise in the urban space of Rondonópolis are significant, such as socio-spatial segregation, the result of a process of accelerated growth in the city linked to the various economic periods that the municipality has undergone, mainly through the expansion of the agricultural frontier since the 1970s, based on extensive livestock farming and soybean monoculture.
