The New Israelite: Or Rabbi Shalom On The Shores Of The Black Sea is a novel written by Jaakoff Prelooker and published in 1903. The story is set in the late 19th century and revolves around Rabbi Shalom, a Jewish scholar who lives in a small town in Russia. Rabbi Shalom is a devout Jew who is deeply committed to his faith and his people.The novel begins with Rabbi Shalom receiving a letter from his brother, who lives in Palestine, inviting him to come and join him in building a new Jewish community. Rabbi Shalom is torn between his love for his family and his duty to his community. After much deliberation, he decides to leave his town and embark on a journey to Palestine.During his journey, Rabbi Shalom faces many challenges and obstacles. He encounters anti-Semitic attitudes and violence, as well as personal struggles with his faith and beliefs. However, he eventually arrives in Palestine and begins working with his brother to build a new Jewish community.The novel explores themes of identity, faith, and community, as well as the challenges faced by Jewish people in the late 19th century. It is a powerful and thought-provoking work that offers a unique perspective on Jewish life and culture.This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
