The Museum Artist was published to record the work of one artist who spent his life to portray history through the medium of art for museums throughout the United States. As the author I was born in Monterrey, California to Helen Marie Hall Peters and Cal N. Peters, both were artists and my mother an author and artist. After several advanced art schools and a stay in the military, I spent most of my life as a graphic designer, illustrator and art director in Southern California. When my father was gone, I put away all of his informative writings and the records that my mother had kept for so many years. As I approached eighty, I felt there is still another part of my father that was left undone... his life as the Museum Artist. My first contact was with the University of Wisconsin-Stout. I was amazed at the never forgotten attitude from the first place that he had completed historic paintings. He was in their archives and have been followed through the years. The very first 33-foot long mural 'The Promotion of Learning, Industry, Skill and Honor has been over the main entrance of Harvey Hall since 1935. The University had a commemoration of the school in 2014-15 and part of it was student essays about Cal N. Peters’ life and work, along with his paintings as focal attractions. As a recent quote from a staff member, 'his presence is still felt in the halls of this University.' It is no winder that I should author, 'The Museum Artist,' Cal N. Peters. This book authenticates his work from museum to museum for more than eighty-five years.
