'The design of The Mental Cure is to explain the nature and laws of the inner life of man, and to contribute some light on the subject of Mental Hygiene, which is beginning to assume importance in the treatment of disease, and to attract the attention of physiologists. Quimby may be regarded as the founder of the New Thought Movement as well of the Metaphysical Movement in America. Credit for the spread of his ideas however, goes to four others. These were four sick people who sought healing at his hands: Annetta G. Seabury, Julius A. Dresser, Mary Baker Glover Patterson (later Mary Baker Eddy), and Warren Felt Evans.W.F Evans not only healed but he wrote a great deal. His great distinction lies in the fact that he was the first to write of the new healing and its basis as taught and practiced by Quimby.
