Extract from Nishioka Sensei’s Introduction to the book: 'I have been thinking about what Japanese martial arts are, what I am supposed to take over from Sensei, and what impels me to keep practicing without getting bored. I wanted to find the answers and convince myself. Then I was convinced that what is important is the mind. Shintō Musō Ryū has very natural and simple ideas without any difficult theories. I wanted to transmit that mind with my words to those who follow, so that they always keep that mind no matter what.'
