In Richard’s self-imaged idea of being better than anyone, his nerdy co-pilot turned out to be the exact opposite. Kind, thoughtful, and brilliant, Katrina was epitome of being a brilliant engineer and a woman. Together they were fire and ice. Within the first day, she discovered his bravado to be nothing more than a strong portrayal of masculine heterosexuality who loved women and left them without a second thought. When she told him she believed him to be gay, fireworks went off.What neither of them knew was that the race was financed by billionaires. This race was purely for their entertainment. They set up the rules where the excitement wasn’t in winning but how badly teams would fail.
