In my U.S. history classes I was often asked by my students to recommend a book, about the size of this one, that would give an essential background of both the culture and history of The First Americans. I have included a special feature in this book. In my U.S. history classes I would bring to each class session a guitar, Native American drum, rattle and masks. I would sing the songs and tell the stories of the Native American people. I have included these songs and stories in this book.

President Abraham Lincoln had to deal with a nation at war with itself. This book has unique features. There ar...
