The Explorers of Australia and Their Life Work is a comprehensive account of the brave men and women who explored the vast and rugged terrain of Australia. Written by Ernest Favenc, a noted Australian author and explorer, this book chronicles the lives and accomplishments of some of the most famous explorers in Australian history, including Captain James Cook, Matthew Flinders, John Oxley, and Charles Sturt. The book is divided into several chapters, each focusing on a different explorer and their unique contributions to the exploration and mapping of Australia. Favenc provides vivid descriptions of their expeditions, the challenges they faced, and the discoveries they made along the way.In addition to the explorers themselves, Favenc also delves into the broader historical, political, and social context of their time. He explores the impact of European colonization on the indigenous peoples of Australia, as well as the scientific and economic implications of the explorers’ discoveries.Overall, The Explorers of Australia and Their Life Work is a fascinating and informative read that offers a glimpse into the lives of some of Australia’s most intrepid explorers and their enduring legacy. It is a must-read for anyone interested in Australian history, exploration, or adventure.Rumours of a mysterious river called the Kindur, which was said, on no better authority than a runaway convict’s, to pursue a north-west course through Australia, now began to be noised about. This convict, whose name was Clarke, but who was generally known as the Barber, said that he had taken to the bush in the neighbourhood of the Liverpool Plains, and had followed down a river which the natives called the Gnamoi. He crossed it and came next to the Kindur. This he followed down for four hundred miles before he came upon the junction of the two. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world’s literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
