Whether the much-called-for 2°C temperature limit will ultimately be adhered to depends very much on investment in low-emission technologies. Investment behaviour, in turn, is significantly influenced by the design of policy instruments aimed at combating global warming. The findings of this research aim to contribute to a better understanding of the business policy decisions made by companies covered by the EU ETS. The aim is to demonstrate to decision-makers, politicians, managers and academics the effectiveness of emissions trading in combating global warming from a corporate perspective.
