The question of man’s being is considered a highly relevant issue for philosophy in the contemporary world, since scientific knowledge, even though it has expanded into the systematic study of man, has caused him to lose sight of his main essence. It is therefore necessary to return to the fundamental question that the philosopher Max Scheler would have emphasised in his anthropological writings: 'What is man?'. Thus, the essential principle that underpins man’s being belongs to the metaphysical sphere and it is this same principle that gives meaning to his existence.
