This final course project addresses how community communication and community journalism appear on the Portal Comunitário website (www.portalcomunitario.jor.br) through the sources, themes, formats, and multimedia resources of the news published on the site between 2008 and 2014. News items were collected relating to the categories of neighbourhoods, NGOs and groups, social movements and trade unions. In order to carry out a consistent analysis, topics such as opinion and public space, journalism theories, community communication, community journalism and online journalism were discussed throughout this work. Thus, the results obtained in the analysis chapter can be discussed based on references from leading authors. The results indicate that the website offers a plurality of sources and themes in its reports, especially with regard to popular participation and agendas, but it still needs to advance in terms of multimedia resources, which are underutilised in the reports, and formats, which are still confined to the traditional newsroom model.
