Margaret Penrose was a house pseudonym used by the Stratemeyer Syndicate. The author was Lilian C. Garis (1873-1954), who published many children’s books under a variety of pseudonyms as well as her own name. 'The Campfire Girls' was a four-book limited series originally published as 'The Radio Girls.'
