Non-verbal communication signals through clothing, tone of voice, facial expressions and gestures are becoming less and less important in society, as we focus our attention on our own screens and less on the people we are actually with. Individuals are increasingly living in a virtual world and interacting on social networks. This artistic work explores the loss of value of clothing as a means of expressing identity. Today, identity is primarily constructed via social media platforms, where individuals communicate digitally without a physical presence and adorn themselves with images, links and likes. Can a comparison be made between clothing labels and virtual identity performance?
