W poszukiwaniu prawdy wielu naukowców popada w eklektyczne przywiązanie do własnych konstrukcji myślowych, nie zdając sobie sprawy, że ich teorie i ich konsekwencje mogą szkodzić kulturom rdzennym. W niniejszej książce pragnę wykazać, w jakim stopniu nauka ma istotny udział w wyzysku kultur rdzennych. Opierając się na teorii mimetyzmu René Girarda, którą w dalszej części pracy zestawiam z innymi teoriami, uwidaczniam taki wyzysk ludu Yanomami w regionie Amazonii. Chciałbym zatem, aby niniejsza praca została odebrana jako ostrzeżenie skierowane do świata nauki, ponieważ zwłaszcza dziedzina etnologii ponosi ogromną współodpowiedzialność za kolonialną eksploatację grup etnicznych i powinna być świadoma własnej historii. Wszystkie koncepcje teoretyczne są przydatne i pomocne dla nauki, ale powinny być poddawane refleksji i charakteryzować się otwartością, tak aby nie wyrządzały krzywdy innym ludziom.
