At the deepest level this book, Teaching Children Poetry, is about how to raise compassionate and courageous children in a world that is growing more violent. The authors, Dwayne and Beth Cole, have each spent 50+ years teaching children. These poems basedon science and the humanities provide an uplifting antidote to worry and fear by creating love, trust, compassion, and hope for beauty and wonder. These societal values will help us understand what it means to live, and save our world for future generations of children. While this is a book for all ages, it is primarily designed to be used with children through the adolescent age to give them roots and wings. Many of the poems were first used with our children and grandchildren to help them grow in beauty and wonder, and to help them see that all of life is precious. At the deepest level this book, Teaching Children Poetry, is about how to raise compassionate and courageous children in a world that is growing more violent.
