This topic has been addressed because training in surgical nursing is currently undergoing a period of significant change. Increasingly, academic training programmes are being offered across the entire nursing sector, and surgical nursing is no exception. It is considered vital to take advantage of this opportunity and to optimise training in line with future objectives. This period of reorientation should be utilised to the full to further professionalise the surgical nursing profession and consolidate its importance in day-to-day intraoperative practice.
