Liv, the owner of the White House Dollhouse Store in Minneapolis, strives to keep her store afloat while investigating the murder of an employee. The employee was an actress in the neighborhood production about President Wilson and Mrs. Wilson. When the employee is murdered, Liv is cast in the role. During performance Liv learns that revenge and anger run deeper than the water and go beyond the generations. There's a second murder and Liv is beginning to wonder if the authorities will catch the killer before another murder happens.
