L’erosione della superficie dei materiali dovuta alla collisione di particelle solide ha rappresentato una sfida per diversi campi dell’ingegneria. Nonostante secoli di indagini e ricerche, il fenomeno esatto dell’erosione della superficie da parte di particelle solide non è stato pienamente compreso. L ’usura erosiva dei componenti delle turbine idroelettriche dipende generalmente da diversi parametri, quali la concentrazione, la dimensione e la forma delle particelle di sedimento, la velocità del flusso e le proprietà del materiale di base del componente della turbina. Dopo aver eseguito l’analisi fluidodinamica computazionale con Ansys Fluent , è stata utilizzata la simulazione della turbina Francis con il modello di turbolenza k-ε per simulareil flusso carico di sedimentinella turbina Francis. È stato studiato l’effetto di vari parametri, quali la velocità di ingresso delle particelle di sabbia, la dimensione delle particelle di sabbia e la concentrazione delle particelle di sabbia sull’erosione.
