Beim Zerspanungsprozess gibt es eine Reihe von unerwünschten Faktoren, die die Qualität des Endprodukts beeinflussen können. Aus dieser Reihe von Faktoren wurde die Untersuchung des Mechanismus für die Bildung der falschen Schneidkante (PCA) als Hauptschwerpunkt dieser Arbeit gewählt. Zum besseren Verständnis dieser Studie wurde eine Literaturrecherche über die für das Auftreten dieses Phänomens erforderlichen Schnittbedingungen durchgeführt. Es wurde nachgewiesen, dass Faktoren wie die Schnitttemperatur, die Schnittgeschwindigkeit, der Werkstoff des Werkstücks, das Magnetfeld, der plastische Fluss, die Adhäsion des Werkstoffs am Werkzeug und das Auftreten von Mikrorissen im Werkstück einen Einfluss auf die Bildung von PKA haben.
