Das Hauptziel besteht darin, die Wirkung einer metallischen Beschichtung, d. h. einer Silberbeschichtung auf dem Kolbenboden, der eine hohe Wärmeleitfähigkeit im Vergleich zum Gussstahlkolben aufweist, zu bestimmen. Die Auswirkungen der beschichteten Kolben auf die Temperatur- und Wärmespannungsverteilung werden analysiert und mit den Ergebnissen eines unbeschichteten Kolbens verglichen, und zwar sowohl mittels statischer als auch thermischer Analyse. Der Kolbenboden ist mit Silber beschichtet, das eine hohe Wärmeleitfähigkeit aufweist. Für dieses Design wird metallisches Material mit einer variierenden Dicke von 300 Mikrometern bis 700 Mikrometern auf Stahlgusskolben aufgetragen. Mit CATIA kann ein Kolbenmodul erstellt werden und mit ANSYS werden strukturelle, statische und transiente Analysen durchgeführt und mit den Ergebnissen eines unbeschichteten Kolbens verglichen.
