The book describes, in careful and full detail, the challenges that minority or people of color, especially African Americans encountered while growing up and starting their careers in the American South during the decades of the 1950s and 60s and again, quite often throughout their lives and careers well into the 1970s, 80s, 90s and further into the 2000s. Challenges that thwarted their efforts in trying to seek or achieve some semblance of the American dream afforded ' ordinary' American citizens. It outlines many of the trials, tribulations, race-based antics, and horrors that many within family and peer generations encountered and endured during course of the post-Reconstruction period throughout the state of Mississippi and the American South. 6
