Stridentism (estridentismo) was a literary, artistic, and cultural movement founded in Mexico in the 1920s by poets Manuel Maples Arce, Germán List Arzubide, and Salbador Gallardo, prose writer Arqueles Vela, painters Fermin Revueltas, Ramón Alva de la Canal, Leopoldo Méndez, and Jean Charlot, and sculptor Germán Cueto. This book is a wide-ranging study of Stridentism that emphasizes the multifaceted nature of its contributions and addresses key debates in this period of Mexican cultural history.
