Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2003 im Fachbereich Gesundheit - Sport - Sportgeschichte, Note: 1,0, Universität Potsdam (Institut für Sportwissenschaft), Veranstaltung: Erinnerungskultur im deutschen Sport, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Die vorliegende Untersuchung widmet sich der Straßennamensgebung als „Erinnerungskultur im deutschen Sport' und versucht damit einen Beitrag zum ständigen Prozess der Selbstreflektion der deutschen Sportgeschichte zu leisten.Die Ergebnisse entwerfen ein sehr traditionelles, „klassisches' Bild von der Traditionspflege im deutschen Sport bezogen auf die Benennung von Straßen: (1) männlich, soldatisch, heldenhaft; (2) weitestgehend unkritische Rezeption der Persönlichkeiten; (3) stark regionaler Charakter der Namensvergabe (z.B. Jahn und Wolker); (4) insgesamt ein „populäres' manchmal zweckorientiertes Erinnern (als Mittel zur Selbstdarstellung). Diese Arbeit zeigt auch, dass es ein bisher wenig bearbeitetes, sportgeschichtlich jedoch durchaus lohneswertes Forschungsfeld ist, von dem aus sich die deutsche Sportgeschichte reflektieren lässt.
