Storm House

'Storm House' is a poignant exploration of love, loyalty, and the complex dynamics of the human heart set against the rugged beauty of the California coast. The story revolves around Jerome Delafield, a man seeking solace and seclusion in his remote home after the traumatic experiences of the Great War. When the young and steadfast Jane Cassell enters his life as a governess for his daughter, a quiet stability begins to take root, eventually blossoming into marriage. However, this fragile peace is soon challenged by the arrival of a sophisticated and captivating woman whose presence ignites a series of emotional conflicts that threaten to unravel the life Jerome and Jane have built together. Kathleen Thompson Norris expertly weaves a narrative of domestic drama, examining the intricacies of marital bonds and the sacrifices made for family. Through evocative prose and keen psychological insight, 'Storm House' delves into the themes of recovery from trauma and the enduring struggle between passion and duty. This novel remains a compelling example of early 20th-century popular fiction, capturing the social mores and emotional landscapes of its era with grace and sensitivity. This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it.
