Analizzeremo il governo dell’ex presidente venezuelano Hugo Chávez (1999-2013). La nostra fonte sarà la rivista Veja e le rappresentazioni che ha prodotto sul governo Chávez nelle sue edizioni dal 1999 al 2013. Cercheremo di capire non solo il governo e la figura politica di Chávez, ma anche come i media analizzano, interpretano e rappresentano un governo. Quali circostanze del passato hanno fatto sì che il suo governo avesse una tale ripercussione sulla scena politica brasiliana e mondiale, dividendo l’opinione pubblica. Gli studi sul 'politico' e la sua ripresa nella storiografia, i dibattiti e le discussioni sul campo delle 'rappresentazioni' e le analisi dei media forniranno un supporto teorico e metodologico alla nostra ricerca. Analizzeremo gli studi sul concetto di 'Rappresentazione'. Faremo una breve storia dei media e di come i media, nel nostro caso la rivista Veja, delineano le informazioni su un governo e sul 'politico', costruendo un campo simbolico in cui le rappresentazioni producono significati. In questo modo, capiamo come i media 'rappresentano' e creano una posizione tendenzialmente favorevole o sfavorevole a un governo.
