L’obiettivo di questo lavoro è studiare la moneta dalla sua concezione nell’antichità, all’istituzione del gold standard, alla trasformazione culminata nelle valute fiat e verificare, attraverso l’applicazione della teoria monetaria sviluppata nel tempo da economisti classici, neoclassici, keynesiani e hayekiani, il potenziale che coinvolge le criptovalute, il loro utilizzo da parte dei governi, dell’iniziativa privata e dei singoli individui, nonché soppesare i benefici e i rischi. L’obiettivo era identificare l’impatto delle criptovalute sul sistema monetario nazionale e internazionale. I risultati di questo lavoro indicano che il denaro emerge attraverso il mercato come una sorta di credito, il suo maggiore utilizzo riduce la volatilità e le criptovalute, sebbene non svolgano ancora le funzioni classiche del denaro, hanno il potenziale per farlo.
