U.S. Army Tactical Intelligence experienced an incredible period of growth during WWII. The Army entered the war with a rudimentary structure how conduct intelligence operations, ending the war with a massive expansion of intelligence disciplines, Military Occupational Specialties, infrastructure and training. Much of the history on WWII intelligence focuses on the O.S.S. and code breaking. While incredibly important operations, the analysts, interrogators, interpreters, censorship, and counter-intelligence agents performed most of the intelligence work. Tactical Signals Intelligence built a robust infrastructure including the use of field computers. Air Corps intelligence refined their practices to support massive air campaigns. Spycatchers, Interrogators, and Analysts fills in the details about Army tactical intelligence. It details how civilians were turned into intelligence professionals, including how they were trained, the equipment they used and the products they published. No other book details the 'how' of U.S. Army Intelligence in WWII, which persisted through the Cold War, echoing even today.
