Le sport fait partie intégrante de la société contemporaine; c’est également une activité politique, économique, éducative, religieuse et scientifique. Le corps et les expériences incarnées sont au cœur de la pratique sportive. Cette recherche s’intéresse à la fois à la nature incarnée du sport et à son potentiel à refléter et à canaliser les discours de la société au sens large. S’appuyant sur les domaines de la géographie du sport, de la géographie corporelle et de la littérature pertinente issue des études sportives, ce rapport se concentre sur la notion d’inscription corporelle à travers le sport. À l’aide de la trialectique sportive de Henning Eichberg et du concept plus large de culture corporelle, l’inscription corporelle est cartographiée à travers les différentes caractéristiques du sport associées aux branches de la trialectique: la performance, la forme physique et l’expérience corporelle. Les travaux d’Eichberg ajoutent également une autre dimension à cette analyse : la comparaison entre le sport, la démocratie et les différentes itérations de la société.
