W ostatnich dziesięcioleciach szybki wzrost demograficzny miast Afryki Zachodniej doprowadził do rozwoju prawdziwych rynków zróżnicowanych produktów lokalnych (Fanny G. i in., 2012, s.05). Daloa, czwarte co do wielkości miasto Wybrzeża Kości Słoniowej, liczy 421 879 mieszkańców (RGPH, 2021), a wskaźnik urbanizacji wynosi 26,16%. Ten silny rozwój miast doprowadził do wysokiego popytu na produkty rolne, aby zaspokoić potrzeby mieszkańców miast. Na obszarze miejskim znajduje się dziewięć codziennych rynków (Mairie, 2021), na których ludność miejska kupuje zarówno produkty spożywcze, jak i towary przemysłowe. Rynki te są codziennie zaopatrywane w żywność przez regularne cotygodniowe rynki podprefektury Daloa. Oprócz funkcji dostarczania produktów spożywczych, rynki miejskie w Daloa umożliwiają graczom utrzymanie aktywności dzięki dostępowi do regularnych źródeł dochodu.
