This is a story that takes place throughout the Pacific, and our hero, Katherine, is the representation of so many women who served their country as either civilians or in the military.

The story starts in 1991 and revolves around the 50th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor. The story is, however, much more than just about that day. This is the story of Katherine, her friend Joyce and others who are engaged in the lead-up to the attack and what would happen to those trapped in other parts of the Pacific after the attack.

Katherine is held in a prisoner of war camp by the Japanese. Her story is told from the perspective of a naïve 18-year-old to a middle-aged successful businesswoman and leads us through events many of us were never taught about the war in the Pacific.
