Dabei findet eine kritisch-reflexive Auseinandersetzung mit zugrundeliegenden differenzbezogenen Konstruktionsprozessen zum einen jedoch bislang vor allem in qualitativ-rekonstruktiv geprägten Forschungszusammenhängen statt. Zum anderen bleibt die Erforschung differenzbezogener Phänomene mit Fragen nach potentiellen Zusammenhängen von Differenz-(Re‑)Konstruktion auf gesellschaftlicher und institutioneller Ebene ebenso wie auf Ebene der untersuchten Akteur*innen sowie der Forschenden selbst oft auf einzelne Teilbereiche beschränkt. Der Band widmet sich der Frage, welches Erkenntnispotential mit der kritischen Reflexion sozialer Differenzierungen und Reifizierungen im Forschungsprozess verbunden ist und vereint hierzu Beiträge aus unterschiedlichen Kontexten der empirischen Sozial- und Bildungsforschung.
