In 1976 in Argentina, when the Armed Forces took over the constitutional government, the military regime called itself the National Reorganisation Process, and from that moment on a policy of terror was established. Those who opposed the military government were kidnapped, tortured and many ended up dying in torture camps. This reality was present in other Latin American countries, but in Argentina it left an extremely high death toll: 30,000 people disappeared and were deprived of their freedom. In the midst of this scenario, the popular movement ’Madres de Plaza de Mayo’ emerged, which would search for the politically disappeared, fight for justice and punish the torturers and those responsible for the repression.
