Con este libro la Municipalidad de Siquirres destaca los cien años de existencia del Cantón.--------------------------------------------------------------SIQUIRRES, CENTENIAL CANTON, is a tribute to this land, true diaphragm of the Province of Limon, both by its geographical position bordering with a variety of cantons and for its dynamic economy. Siquirres emerges as an important location in the process of construction of the railroad, instrumental in the development of the Costa Rican economy. The original indigenous population was partially absorbed by the workers of African and Chinese descent who were the builders of the railroad and the town. But over the years, the population has diversified, converting the Canton into the ethnic melting pot that it is today. This diverse origin has produced a remarkable cultural wealth in the country. Siquirres has a dynamic economy, agricultural base, emphasizing the production of banana and pineapple; with an important adventure-tourism contribution and a thriving agro-industrial and commercial activity, with stunning landscapes ranging from the highlands of the Cordillera de Talamanca, to the lowlands of the coasts that integrate it to the Bar and to Parismina.SIQUIRRES, CENTENNIAL CANTON is a text of consultation for the inhabitants, an exquisite keepsake for the siquirrenos in diaspora and a great souvenir for tourists. With this book the Municipality of Siquirres highlights 100 years of existence of the Canton.
