Alla luce di ciò, ingegnerizzare e personalizzare efficacemente la struttura superficiale dei catalizzatori a base di Pt, compresa la costruzione a rete o a guscio, migliorerebbe le proprietà catalitiche grazie ad aree attive superficiali più ampie e a un maggior numero di siti reattivi.
