O livro engloba a preparação de um tensioativo sulfonado à base de óleo de rícino e de um tensioativo polimérico para aplicação na recuperação avançada de petróleo. O surfactante desenvolvido e o surfactante polimérico são caracterizados por FTIR, FE-SEM, EDX, TGA, análise DLS. O desempenho do tensioativo sintetizado e do correspondente tensioativo polimérico como agente químico para a recuperação melhorada de petróleo foi estudado através da medição da tensão interfacial (IFT) entre o petróleo bruto e as soluções aquosas de tensioactivos, do comportamento reológico e do ângulo de contacto contra a superfície do arenito. Foram realizadas experiências de inundação de núcleos no sistema sand-pack e obteve-se uma recuperação adicional de 26-30% do petróleo original no local (OOIP) através da injeção de 0,5 volume de poros de projécteis de tensioativo após a inundação convencional com água.
