Dans la nuit du 10 au 11 juin 1960, Si Salah et deux autres officiers de la wilaya4 sont reçus à l’Elysée par le général de Gaulle. Ils viennent, dans le cadre de la 'paix des braves', proposée par le chef de l’Etat en octobre 1958, pour finaliser un accord négocié entre avril et mai en Algérie avec des cadres militaires et civils mandatés par l’Elysée. Cet espoir de cessez-le-feu sera déçu. C’est ce que l’on a appelé 'l’Affaire Si Salah'
