February 5-Hispanic-America: the forces of the governor of the Río de la Plata José de Andonaegui, reinforced by 150 soldiers from Spain, together with 1,670 men of the governor of Montevideo José Joaquín de Viana and 1,200 Portuguese soldiers under the command of Gomes Freire de Andrade, assemble at the chapel of Santa Tecla (today in Bagé) to advance on San Miguel, capital of Siete Misiones.
