Por conseguinte, as aplicações do exame ginecológico podem causar alguns impactos traumatizantes que resultam em reacções como o evitar ser examinada, uma ligeira ansiedade e um sentimento de vergonha.Os enfermeiros desempenham um papel importante no aconselhamento, na motivação e na assistência aos doentes para que estes alterem os seus comportamentos de saúde, ajudando-os a melhorar os seus comportamentos, fornecendo-lhes ferramentas de auto-gestão e apoiando-os na sua auto-gestão. O aconselhamento é uma relação dinâmica e intencional entre duas pessoas que abordam um problema mutuamente definido com consideração mútua.
