Badanie zawiera krytyczno-interpretacyjną analizę dzieła muzealnego „Marabá' autorstwa Rodolpho Amoedo, skupiając się na zrozumieniu sposobu, w jaki seksualizowane ciało kobiece wzbogaciło symboliczne reprezentacje w brazylijskiej wyobraźni społeczno-kulturowej XIX wieku, wraz z ich projekcjami na współczesne tematy. W świetle semiotyki Charlesa S. Peirce’a, interpretacja seksualizowanego kobiecego ciała Marabá jako terytorium symbolicznych reprezentacji brazylijskiej wyobraźni społeczno-kulturowej XIX wieku pozwala zrozumieć, w jaki sposób relacje między edukacją, seksualnością i międzykulturowością odbijają się na współczesnych podmiotach. Stwierdzono, że nad ciałem XIX wieku panował porządek represji wokół seksualności, jako forma kontroli i utrzymania interesów dominujących ideologii, dlatego też ciało było zakazane, w przeciwieństwie do współczesnego porządku eksponowania ciała poprzez dyskurs „wolności' lub „wszystko jest dozwolone', nie jako miejsce przynależności, ale jako miejsce symboliczne, które, choć posługuje się innymi wskaźnikami, pozostaje pod egidą dyskursu porządku: kontroli i utrzymania interesów dominujących ideologii.
