La intención con este libro es contribuir a rescatar y preservar el patrimonio cultural de Chile, ya que sabemos que el fenómeno de la globalización a veces amenaza las tradiciones y sabiduría popular de cada país. Nuestros mayores son propietarios de un conocimiento ancestral, con una sabiduría que han obtenido de sus antepasados. Esto lleva al Programa para el Adulto Mayor de la Pontificia universidad Católica de Chile y a la Asociación de AFP a llamar a un concurso para recopilar en sus fuentes auténticas, los adultos mayores, los ’secretos de nuestras plantas’, dejando como herencia este libro para que todos podamos beneficiarnos. Más de 900 recetas de ’secretos de la naturaleza’ se recibieron de distintos puntos del país, las que la Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile y la Asociación de AFP han querido testimoniar en este libro. 10
