Wann kann Schule biografisch für den Schüler zum Problem werden und wann eröffnet sie ihm Möglichkeiten zur Entfaltung seines Selbst? Wie hängen Schullaufbahn Familien und Peers zusammen? Und wie kann sich das Verhältnis von Schulkultur und Schülerbiographie verändern? Die Studie setzt sich unter diesen Fragestellungen mit den wenigen biographisch orientierten Schülerstudien der BRD auseinander und entwickelt einen hermeneutisch-rekonstruktiven Zugang zur Erschließung dieses Zusammenhangs. Resultat ist der Entwurf eines Strukturmodells der 'schulbiographischen Passung', das den Anspruch erhebt, grundlegende Wirkungszusammenhänge abzubilden und schulische Verläufe im Rahmen milieuspezifischer Differenzierung zu erklären.
