Sawdust: A Romance Of The Timberlands is a novel written by Dorothea Gerard and first published in 1905. The story is set in the Canadian wilderness and revolves around the lives of the lumberjacks who work there. The main character is a young woman named Dolly, who is the daughter of a wealthy businessman. Dolly falls in love with a lumberjack named Jim, who works for her father’s company. Despite the social and economic differences between them, they begin a secret romance. However, their relationship is threatened by the dangerous and unpredictable nature of the timberlands, as well as by the disapproval of Dolly’s father. The novel explores themes of love, class, and the harsh realities of life in the wilderness. It is a vivid portrayal of the rugged beauty and challenges of the Canadian wilderness, as well as a touching love story between two unlikely individuals. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
