Sur la base de la théorie de la traduction intersémiotique développée par Julio Plaza (2003) et fondée sur la sémiotique peircienne, l’objectif général de ce travail est d’analyser le processus de recréation de l’œuvre littéraire Comme l’eau pour le chocolat pour le cinéma. En plus de contextualiser la proposition esthétique du réalisme magique, le Boom et le Post-boom comme éléments pertinents de la production littéraire de Comme l’eau pour le chocolat et son thème (l’univers féminin) insérés dans l’univers hispano-américain. Nous soulignons également les processus de traduction impliqués dans la transposition des œuvres sans perdre la proposition de l’œuvre originale qui consiste à problématiser l’étrangeté du rejet péjoratif des femmes de second sexe confinées aux tâches ménagères qui, dans la figure de Tita, protagoniste de la diégèse, réclament une reconnaissance en convertissant l’écriture de recettes en un riche journal de ses souvenirs.
