Sobre IBD

One of the most recurrent social issues in our contemporary civilisation, within the context of urban life, is the problem of environmental protection, which is threatened by various forms of pollution, including municipal solid waste. In Cotonou, particularly in the neighbourhoods on the outskirts of the Dantokpa market, the management of municipal solid waste poses a significant problem, despite the numerous clean-up initiatives undertaken by various stakeholders. It is therefore essential to investigate the reasons for the persistent unsanitary conditions in Cotonou’s sixth district. This study addresses precisely this concern.

This classic work chronicles how New York, London, and Tokyo became command centers for the global economy and in the process underwent a series of massive and parallel changes. What distinguishes Sassen’s theoretical framework is the emphasis on the formation of cross-border dynamics through which these cities and the growing number of other global cities begin to form strateg...

How do dealers price contemporary art in a world where objective criteria seem absent? Talking Prices is the first book to examine this question from a sociological perspective. On the basis of a wide range of qualitative and quantitative data, including interviews with art dealers in New York and Amsterdam, Olav Velthuis shows how contemporary art galleries juggle the contradi...
