Il tumore della vescica (BC) è uno dei tumori più comuni del tratto urinario e un problema importante a livello mondiale; è la neoplasia più comune del tratto urinario, il quarto tumore più comune negli uomini e il settimo più comune nelle donne. I principali fattori di rischio noti per il cancro alla vescica includono il fumo di sigaretta, l’esposizione alle ammine aromatiche di origine industriale e l’assunzione di farmaci come la fenacetina, la clorofrazina e la ciclofosfamide. Queste esposizioni provocano danni al DNA che, se non riparati, possono portare a una crescita cellulare sregolata e persino al cancro.
