Rückkehrmigration hat sich als wichtiges Konzept für die Migration und die Entwicklung von Individuen und Heimatländern erwiesen. Bei der Rückwanderung handelt es sich um einen Strom von Migranten, die aus dem Ausland zurückkehren, und ihre Rückkehr kann Auswirkungen auf das Gastland und das Heimatland haben. Migration und Rückwanderung wurden durch internationale Instrumente angeregt, die sich zu den Rechten von Migranten und Rückkehrern äußern. Das wichtigste Instrument ist die Allgemeine Erklärung der Menschenrechte von 1948, Artikel 13(2), in dem es heißt: 'Jeder Mensch hat das Recht, jedes Land, einschließlich seines eigenen, zu verlassen und in sein Land zurückzukehren'. Die Autoren haben versucht, das Konzept der Rückkehrmigration und ihren Beitrag zur sozialen und wirtschaftlichen Entwicklung auf verschiedenen Ebenen zu beschreiben. Das Buch beschreibt die Realität des Konzepts der Rückkehrmigration auf globaler Ebene, auf regionaler Ebene, insbesondere in den afrikanischen Ländern südlich der Sahara, und auf Landesebene am Beispiel Tansanias in Bezug auf seine Intervention bei fehlender Migrationspolitik.
