A History of the Communities of Mack and New Liberty and the families who settled there. All of the original pioneers are gone, as are many of their descendants. We are happy to bring their lives to light through this history so generations present and future can enjoy and learn from their great examples. In these pages we will attempt to tell at least part of the story of the people of the communities of Mack and New Liberty. We will share some of their hopes, their triumphs, their heartbreaks - to help you appreciate and know them better. It is our sincere hope that whoever reads this history will enjoy it at least half as much as we have enjoyed compiling it. We have come to better know and appreciate the many people among whom we lived and with whom we associated for so many years. That alone is considerable reward for the time, effort, and expense we have invested in this work.~Homer & PhyllisTable of ContentsAbout the AuthorsA Tribute to the Pioneers of Mack and New LibertyPART ONE - Mack and New Liberty HistoriesChapter One-The BeginningThe Grand ValleyThe Uintah RailwayChapter Two-MackMackThe Mack Post OfficeRural Route IMack SchoolHighline Hustlers ClubUintah Country ClubChapter Three-The Challenges and Blessings of 1918World War IThe Flu EpidemicThe Highline CanalThe SiphonThe First SettlersThe DrawingChapter Four-The Work Begins'Homesteading'Crops and MachineryTurkey SchoolChapter Five-New LibertyNew Liberty SchoolNew Liberty Sunday SchoolSocial LifeMarriages and BirthsNew Liberty Community ClubSew and So ClubSorosis ClubChapter Six-ProgressAutomobiles & RoadsFruita Union High SchoolRural ElectricityChapter Seven-More ChallengesProhibition & MoonshiningThe Great DepressionWorld War IIChapter Eight-NowadaysMackNew LibertyPART TWO - Family BiographiesAlstatt, Anderson, Appier, Archuleta, Arpke, Ashburn, Baird, Bainter, Banning, Barcus, Barnes, Barr, Berry, Blasde, Blasier, Booth, Bowen, Boyden, Brandon, Brayton, Brewster, Brisbin, Bryan, Burkett, Bush, Carroll, Caruthers, Cavendish, Chaffin, Chilson, Christofferson, Cole, Collins, Cook, Cooper, Corn, Cotner, Cox, Crews, Currey, Cutler, Daily, Davidson, Davies, Deacon, Dean, DeCrow, Denton, Diehl, Dillbeck, Dille, Dodge, Earp, Ebright, Eddings, Everetts, Fisher, Foss, Gadbury, Garber, Garcia, Geeting, Gerry, Glass, Gnagey, Griebel, Grimsby, Harris, Harrison, Hawthorne, Henderson, Herron, Hiatt, Hollinger, Homedew, Jones, Keffalos, Kelley, Kelly, Kennedy, Kessinger, Kiefer, King, Koch, Komatas, Lander, Leach, Likes, Loftin, Lyman, MacTaggart, Maluy, Martinez, McCoy, Morrow, Muths, Nelson, Overbye, Pacheco, Paulson, Penfield, Phillips, Pollock, Post, Puckett, Raver, Rector, Rich, Roberts, Robertson, Rowe, Sanders, Saunders, Schunter, Shires, Simpson, Sisler, Slaugh, Smith, Snavely, Spencer, Stotts, Summers, Sumnicht, Sweitzer, Swyhart, Thomas, Thompson, Tomlinson, Turner, Underwood, Wagaman, Wallace, Wassenberg, Weimer, Weir, Wells, Wesner, White, Wilkinson, Wing, Winkle, Wright, Wynkoop, Young, Zahnen
