Il Raspberry Pi funziona con un sistema operativo Linux e tutti gli esempi di codice sono scritti in Python. Il costo dei componenti necessari dovrebbe essere il più basso possibile e il loro reperimento dovrebbe risultare agevole. Allo stesso modo, il robot dovrebbe essere facile da utilizzare e adatto alla riproduzione sulla base degli esempi di codice sorgente. Al termine del libro, il robot disporrà delle seguenti funzioni essenziali: guida autonoma con un telaio a 4 ruote, sensore di distanza a ultrasuoni per il rilevamento degli ostacoli, servomotori per il movimento della telecamera, telecamera per il riconoscimento cromatico degli oggetti, microfono + altoparlante, ad esempio per i comandi vocali, display tattile per il controllo del robot.
