Researches in the Phenomena of Spiritualism

'Researches in the Phenomena of Spiritualism' is a seminal work by the eminent British physicist and chemist Sir William Crookes. In this profound scientific inquiry, Crookes applies rigorous experimental methods to the investigation of psychic phenomena, a subject that deeply captivated the intellectual circles of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The work details meticulous observations of physical mediumship, including levitation, the movement of objects without physical contact, and the appearance of luminous phenomena. Crookes, a Fellow of the Royal Society, sought to bridge the gap between traditional physical science and the seemingly inexplicable events occurring in the presence of renowned mediums. Through a series of documented experiments, he discusses his findings on the 'psychic force' and the potential existence of laws governing an unseen world that interacts with our own. This volume remains a cornerstone of parapsychological literature, offering a unique perspective from a world-class scientist who explored the boundaries of human consciousness and the afterlife. It is an essential read for those interested in the history of science, the Victorian spiritualist movement, and the enduring quest to understand the mysteries beyond the material realm. This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it.
