A regulamentação dos produtos farmacêuticos e dos medicamentos foi desenvolvida desde o início do século XX. A regulamentação e a legislação sobre medicamentos foram reconhecidas em muitos países do mundo. Os países que têm uma organização reguladora estão a tentar harmonizar-se com essa organização. No Paquistão, as indústrias farmacêuticas estão a produzir todas as principais formas de dosagem farmacêutica; a maior parte da matéria-prima é importada e algumas são fabricadas localmente. Embora a despesa total com os medicamentos não seja enorme, a acessibilidade dos medicamentos seguros e eficazes continua a ser um problema grave. No Paquistão, a Autoridade Reguladora dos Medicamentos do Paquistão (DRAP) foi reconhecida ao abrigo da Lei (DRAP) de 2012 para assegurar a aplicação da Lei dos Medicamentos de 1976 e uma coordenação eficaz. E também harmonizou a terapêutica boa no comércio e comércio interprovincial. Considerando que o seu regulamento de fornecimento, para o fabrico, exportação, importação, armazenamento, venda e distribuição de produtos terapêuticos / produtos farmacêuticos.
